About Raphael
I have been performing music internationally for 42 years (since age 4) and teaching it professionally for the last 24 years across the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and currently the UK. After performing in the largest venues of the United States and most recently being a court musician for the President of the United Arab Emirates, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed, I have relocated to the old continent continuing to inspire students and perform alongside professional musicians.

Your lessons with me will be as successful as your goals are clear. If you know what you’d like to achieve - I will help you get there, regardless of your age, current proficiency level, preferred genres etc. If your goals are unrealistic - you will know this during our first meeting. Otherwise, expect a challenging, but exciting journey with music. During the past 24 years I’ve worked with thousands of musicians of all backgrounds, ages, levels and aspirations. 100% of my students interested in passing music exams do so at the highest percentile levels (merit/distinction). Many students are into composition and improvisation in a variety of genres (not only jazz). Some delve into theory, others into recording or even playing different instruments (I do teach brass and percussion as well). A select few of my students are teachers themselves who would like to expand their skill set as professional educators. All are welcome! I will expect you to be on time, do your work and be hungry for learning. I’ll hold your hand when needed on this fantastic journey, but I won’t be able to help make you a better musician if you don’t take our work seriously and do your part, regularly. Unless you are an advanced student, I recommend meeting twice a week for 60 min (45 min for youngsters with short attention span). My job is done when, over time, my guidance becomes less necessary or, preferably, completely unnecessary; when I have made you your own teacher and the independent musician that I hope you strive to become!

This man has the most interesting takes on life, and more importantly on music and its deeper connections to pretty much everything. From classical music, to modal jazz accompaniments, and from theoretical to practical skills, Raphael is sure to put on a show - or rather, make you put on a show - before much time has passed. I can honestly say that Raphael has not only pushed my skills on the piano, and general music proficiency, he has also given me a whole new appreciation of life and more unconventional styles of music! I cannot stress enough how amazing this guy is; you haven’t experienced quality education until you’ve had the pleasure of meeting Raphael and his immense passion for sound dead on. (Ps. If you haven’t listened to eastern european jazz before, you’re in for a treat)
