About Matthew
I'm a Neuroscience student at BYU working to one day become a physician. I worked as a tutor at a math learning center for about a year, including some time during the pandemic (I have ample practice doing remote learning), and I also taught ACT Prep courses for a few summers. I know that learning can sometimes be a frustrating process, and so one of my personal goals is to make sure all of my students both understand the concepts being taught, and start to feel more confident about their own capabilities to learn.

I have found that most students struggle with concepts in any subject, but Math in particular, because fundamental concepts are not understood. This makes it nearly impossible to really understand higher-level concepts that build on those fundamentals. I strive to work with students to understand and correct misunderstandings in fundamental concepts. I primarily prefer to help students with their homework, and teach from there, but I have also synthesized content to correct fundamental understanding when necessary in the past.
