About Irenie
My name is Irenie and I am a PhD student studying Neuroscience at the University of Edinburgh. I love my subject as it allows me to explore the cause and mechanisms of different diseases whilst also giving me the opportunity to be practical in the lab. As someone who deals with a disability, I understand that different students work at different paces and may not feel so confident in their abilities. I will therefore be patient and hope to build the confidence of my tutees to achieve their goals just as I did with myself.

I tutored during my gap year and master's degree, and was rated 5-stars on MyTutor for the quality and clarity of my lessons. I like to tailor my teaching style to the student and do this through understanding their interests and exploring different techniques that work form them. My own experience of revising has taught me that active recall with revision cards, writing summaries and mind-mapping, work best for myself and I like using videos for concepts that are difficult to grasp. Finally, I hope to make lessons as interactive and creative as possible through incorporating fun activities to keep sessions enjoyable and students engaged. Lessons will be an hour long and geared towards KS3, GCSE and A-level students.
