About Daisy
Hi! I'm in my third year at Princeton University in the USA, where I am studying Neuroscience and English. But I grew up and went to high school in Canterbury, NZ. In high school, I loved learning, achieving Excellence endorsements in Level 1, 2, and 3 NCEA, as well as an NZQA Outstanding Scholar award in English and Scholar awards in Biology and Chemistry. I was also awarded Academic Colors and Honors at my school, and a prize for Top Scholar. I've been involved with teaching since I was 13, taking several courses on how to develop lesson plans and gaining qualifications through a youth program (St John Cadets) to allow me to teach and lead younger kids. I was also heavily involved in tutoring younger students in high school, learning how to adapt the skills I already had to academic contexts. After taking a short break from tutoring when I moved overseas, I've realized how much I love teaching and miss helping students flourish, and I'm ready to get back into it!

I have a passion for teaching and helping students unlock their full potential as learners. I was heavily involved with my high school's student tutoring program, where I specialised in working with students with learning difficulties like dyslexia. I have tutored students at all high school ages, but primarily focus on NCEA Levels 1-3.
I believe in working closely with students to find the way that they learn best - no two students are the same, and often a classroom environment can make it hard for teachers to adapt to individual needs, which is where I come in! As a result, my lessons can take the form of anything from more structured, essay-planning or grammar review style lessons, to more open and conversational sessions to help students think deeper about texts and the world around them.
Because I study overseas, I can unfortunately only do online lessons! I will also work with you to find a time for lessons that fits into the time difference between NZ and USA well.
