About Yvaine
I am an Australia Awards scholar with over 15 years of multifaceted professional experience. My career has spanned international diplomacy, journalism, and museology.
I have studied in Osaka through the sponsorship from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan as well as in New York State as a U.S. Department of State scholar. I was also the national delegate to the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland. Having lived and worked in diverse global environments, I have developed a profound appreciation for cross-cultural communication. I am a native Mandarin speaker and am well-versed in English and Malay, with a foundational knowledge of Japanese.
I am passionate about teaching because I believe language is the most powerful tool for building bridges between cultures. My goal is to share not only linguistic fluency but also the rich cultural heritage and soft skills I have acquired through a career at the intersection of media and global policy. I look forward to helping you achieve excellence in Mandarin Chinese and the meditative art of traditional calligraphy.

I offer a highly personalised approach to learning Mandarin Chinese and traditional calligraphy, designed for students and professionals seeking cultural depth through a unique global perspective. I am also well versed in English, Malay, and basic Japanese.
Drawing from 15 years of professional experience ranging from museology and journalism to the international diplomacy, my methodology focuses on practical communication and the strategic use of language in professional settings. For language learners, we will prioritise conversational fluency and the social etiquette essential for navigating Chinese-speaking environments. For calligraphy enthusiasts, I provide a meditative, hands-on experience exploring the artistic history and technical precision of Chinese characters.
Lessons are typically 60 to 90 minutes long and tailored to your specific goals, such as business travel, academic study, or personal enrichment. I welcome students of all levels and ages, offering a worldview shaped by my career in Malaysia plus living and education experience in Japan and USA.

I have known Yin Yee for several years. We worked together as partners, focusing on research and media-related matters.
She excels in Mandarin and previously worked as a journalist for a renowned Mandarin-language press in Malaysia.
I strongly recommend her as a Mandarin teacher.I had the privilege of meeting Yin Yee through a government internship program, and since then she has been an incredibly important mentor in both my academic and professional journey. She is not only exceptionally talented—writing outstanding articles and papers in English, Malay, and especially Mandarin Chinese—but also deeply dedicated to helping others succeed.
What truly sets Yin Yee apart is her kindness and sincerity. She is patient, gentle, and always willing to go the extra mile to support those under her care. I personally benefited from her guidance and encouragement, and it was thanks to her thoughtful recommendation letter that I was accepted into Harvard University.
Yin Yee is someone who genuinely believes in her students and empowers them to reach their full potential. I wholeheartedly recommend her as both an excellent tutor and a trusted guide for anyone looking to grow academically and personally.
