About Aquilon
Hi! My name is Johan, and I am a native French speaker from France currently completing a Master of Teaching (Secondary) at Swinburne University in Melbourne.
Teaching has always been something I genuinely enjoy because I love helping people grow in confidence and achieve goals they once thought were out of reach. Before moving into teaching, I worked as a French Tutor at St. John's University in New York, and I recently completed a teaching placement at Methodist Ladies’ College (MLC), where I taught French to secondary students.
Having lived in France, the United States and Australia, I have met people from all walks of life and learned that every student is unique. My role is not only to teach French but also to create a positive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and enjoying the learning process.
Whether you are learning French for school, university, travel, work or simply for fun, I am here to help you reach your goals while keeping lessons engaging and enjoyable.
I work with children, teenagers, university students and adults of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced learners.

My lessons are fully personalized and designed around your goals, interests and learning style.
During our first free lesson, we will take the time to get to know each other, discuss your objectives, assess your current level and identify the areas you would like to improve.
Based on this discussion, I will create a personalized learning plan tailored specifically to your needs, whether you are preparing for school assessments, improving your conversational French, building confidence, preparing for travel, or simply learning for enjoyment.
As a future teacher currently completing a Master of Teaching, I use modern teaching strategies that focus on communication, confidence and active participation. I believe students learn best when they are engaged, challenged at the right level and enjoying the process.
Lessons typically combine speaking, listening, reading and writing activities, but the balance depends entirely on your objectives. Some students want to focus on conversation, while others need support with grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation or academic success.
Most importantly, my lessons take place in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere where mistakes are welcomed as part of the learning process.
