About Matthew

I am very passionate about teaching, seeing my students succeed, and always try to keep myself updated as I feel so much committed to them and always go out of my way for their everyday progress. I develop tailored learning concepts that improve their listening, reading, writing, and speaking.

I help my students improve on their listening skills by giving focus on the key listening challenges faced by each student e.g. understanding ascents, focusing and remembering details. Also look into addressing their learning goals e.g. improving comprehension and social listening skills.

I also equip my students with the fundamental reading skills which aid the phonics and decoding skills such as identifying sounds then blending them to form words, building vocabulary through provision of lists, games that help in knowledge expansion and also work on fluency to enable speed, accuracy and expression. I also address reading challenges e.g. decoding words, understanding complex sentences or remembering what you read. Will also help you reach your reading goals be it improving reading speed or increase comprehension.

On writing skills, focus is mainly on addressing the major challenges of grammar, organization and formulating ideas. Lectures are tailored to a student writing goals ranging from structuring sentences, paragraphs, short stories and essay writing.

On speaking skills I focus on building confidence and fluency. I provide opportunities of regular practice through activities like role playing, discussions, presentation. focusing on clarity, pronunciation and vocabulary expansion.

About the lesson

I have been teaching English for 8 years and the majority of my students are being prepared for passing the IELTS test, most of whom get their desired score in a short period of time. I have worked with a variety of students from different backgrounds and I make sure each has their own tailored plan of study.
