Teaching Methodology and Techniques
As a native Chinese speaker, I believe in a student-centered approach to teaching, where each lesson is tailored to the student’s individual needs and learning pace. I combine a mix of communicative language teaching (CLT) with task-based learning (TBL), which emphasizes real-world communication skills and practical use of the language. This includes speaking practice, listening exercises, vocabulary expansion, and writing tasks. I also integrate cultural insights into my lessons to help students understand the context in which the language is used.
A Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson begins with a short review of previous content to reinforce learning. Then, we introduce new concepts, which could range from vocabulary and grammar structures to practical conversations or cultural topics. I focus on interactive activities like role-playing, scenario-based dialogues, and discussions. Each lesson ends with a recap of key points, followed by a short homework assignment or practice exercise to solidify what was learned. For students preparing for exams like HSK, we will also focus on specific exam strategies and practice tests.
