Celia is a wonderful tutor who is really passionate about teaching and sustaining the Cantonese language! I began taking conversation lessons with Celia several years ago because I wanted to speak with my older relatives, who I had never been able to communicate with. Celia's teaching style is flexible and very intentional. The basis of our classes are typically a real conversation about life, and Celia will fluidly introduce and teach vocabulary and topics that are relevant to what we're speaking about. In this way I've been able to practice Cantonese as it is actually used colloquially, and learned words and grammar patterns that are relevant and practical. Celia's also fluent in Mandarin, which can be incredibly helpful for formulating connections. Celia pays strong attention to detail, and has been able to help me understand many subtle tonal and cultural nuances of Cantonese that have always confused me. Funny enough, I am actually in Hong Kong now visiting my relatives and have been able to talk with them with a level of fluency I'd never reached before! I am very grateful to Celia and highly recommend her as a teacher.
