About Alice
I am a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker who completed high school in Brazil and began my college studies there before moving to the United States to continue my education. Because I have experienced learning and living in different languages and cultures, I understand the challenges students face when learning a new language.
Over the years, I have helped others with Portuguese informally through tutoring and conversation practice, which has given me experience explaining the language in a clear and approachable way. I am especially confident working with beginners and students who want to build a strong foundation in conversational Portuguese.
My goal as a tutor is to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel encouraged to speak and practice without fear of making mistakes. I focus on clear explanations, patience, and adapting lessons to each student’s goals so they can progress at their own pace.

As a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker, my main focus is helping students feel comfortable communicating in real situations. My teaching style is conversational and supportive, especially for beginners who want to build confidence speaking Portuguese. I like to combine practical conversation with simple grammar explanations so students understand how the language works while practicing it.
A typical lesson usually includes conversation practice, useful vocabulary for everyday situations, and short grammar explanations when needed. I also like to adapt lessons to each student’s goals, whether they are preparing for travel, fieldwork, or simply learning the language for personal interest.
What sets me apart is that I focus on real Brazilian Portuguese used in everyday life, including cultural context and natural expressions. Because I moved from Brazil to the United States for college, I understand the challenges of learning and using a new language, and I try to make lessons relaxed and encouraging.
My lessons are best suited for beginner and early-intermediate students, especially those who want to improve their conversational Portuguese and build a strong basic foundation in the language.
