About Amaya
I grew up in Bordeaux until I was 14, and with my parents and friends still living there, I go back as often as I can, so my French has never really left me. It's still very much part of my everyday life. I've just graduated from the University of Nottingham. During my studies I worked in a French bakery over the summers, which honestly kept me grounded in the language in the best way possible, and when I'm back in Bordeaux I babysit for local families too. Outside of that, I'm a big reader and a huge fan of French music. I'm half-French, fully bilingual, and I genuinely love the language. Whether you're working towards an exam or just want to be able to hold a conversation, I'd love to help you get there.

- My first session is always about getting to know you: your level, your goals, and where you're losing confidence, so I can tailor every lesson from there.
- For exam students, I work closely with the syllabus. Whether you're sitting exams for your GCSE or A-Level, I know the mark schemes and the exact skills that separate a good grade from a great one. We'll practise past papers, sharpen your writing, and nail your speaking and listening too.
- For conversational learners, lessons are relaxed and practical: real vocabulary, real situations, and plenty of speaking from the start. No textbook French that sounds robotic.
- Lessons typically run for one hour, though I'm happy to do longer sessions for students who want to cover more ground, especially closer to exams.
- Who I teach: I work with students of all ages: from Year 10 upwards for GCSE prep, A-Level students, university undergraduates needing extra support, and adults who simply want to learn or brush up on their French for travel, work, or pleasure.
- My qualifications: I hold a degree from the University of Nottingham, achieved an A* in A-Level French (Edexcel) and a grade 9 at GCSE. I also have a B in Spanish A-Level (AQA), giving me a strong grasp of how languages are examined and taught at every level. Most importantly, I'm half-French and fully bilingual, so everything I teach comes from genuine fluency, not just textbook knowledge.
