About Madison
I have several years of experience in Elementary Education, and am passionate about helping young people improve their reading and writing skills. I hold an Associate's Degree in Elementary Education, and I am an aspiring teacher. I have 2 years of experience in tutoring elementary students. Growing up, I had a strong desire to learn to read, but a very hard time putting together letters and words, and an even harder time comprehending what I was reading. Later, teachers discovered that I was dyslexic. However, this did not prevent me from learning to read or loving to read! I want to help young people who struggle with reading unlock this same love of reading and writing that I found!

I believe that making reading and writing a fun, exciting, and stress-free activity is the key to your students' success. The ability to read, write, and comprehend opens up hundreds of doors for your child to embrace their creativity and learn what they are passionate about.
I teach in a phonics-based approach that breaks reading down into small and digestible parts. I avoid teaching students to read through guessing or context clues and instead emphasize the explicit relationship between letters and sounds. I engage students' visual, hearing, and kinesthetic senses for the best comprehension. I love to teach students to read through fun games and activities so that literacy is associated with positivity and success instead of stress and failure. I want children to know that their reading/writing skills are not something to be ashamed of or scared of. I want to motivate children to be excited to continue their literacy journey.
Classes are for K-5th-grade students.
