About Rory
I have a degree in Popular Music from Goldsmiths, University of London, and 20 years' experience of playing a variety of styles on the guitar. I have worked in schools and am looking to develop my teaching experience even further. I want to teach guitar the way that I learnt it myself, which was by never losing sight of what made me want to pick up a guitar in the first place! That means letting you, the student, decide on your own goals, what you want to be able to do with a guitar, and me structuring my lessons accordingly. Learning to play guitar was the best decision I ever made, and I am eager to share that joy with you!

Whether you wish to move through the formal grading system or simply want to learn a few tunes on the guitar, I provide personalised lessons to guide you towards your goals. All ages are welcome, ability level beginner to intermediate. We can approach the learning whichever way suits you best, be that learning scales and techniques, or just learning to play the songs you love/developing your ability to compose your own music on the guitar!

I have had a very positive experience of Rory as a guitar teacher. I have tried a number if times to start on learning to play the guitar before getting Rorys help. He helped me get started and I’m now really enjoying developing as a guitar player. Rory is friendly and calm and is a knowledgeable teacher. I would highly recommend Rory.
