About Sonia
Teaching biology feels like guiding students through complex systems rather than just reciting textbook facts. I have 3 years of experience helping pupils navigate immunology basics, plant biology, biological drawing, protein synthesis, physiology, food webs and energy flow, the circulatory system, homeostasis, mitosis and meiosis, and the scientific method. Connecting these topics to real life makes the content stick in their minds. It is genuinely enjoyable to watch students move from confusion to clarity across a single term.

Sitting down for that first session often involves mapping out the entire syllabus to identify where you need the most support. We use my MSc Chemistry background to link biological processes back to the fundamental chemical reasoning that underpins them. I ensure that we cover the NCEA Levels 1 to 3 requirements thoroughly. Concept maps are shared after each lesson to consolidate what was discussed during our time together, leaving you with a visual guide for your revision.
