About Owen
I’m particularly passionate about helping students move beyond memorisation to develop real understanding and confidence, whether they’re aiming to boost grades or prepare for competitive university applications.
Alongside my academic work, I trained at a professional music school for six years (percussion, with piano as a secondary study). During COVID, I independently fast-tracked my studies, completing Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry a year early. This led me to begin tutoring students in my own year and above, developing my teaching skills early on.
Since starting at the University of Manchester, I have taught on the Levelling Up Programme, and this experience has led to my current role as a tutor for the University of Oxford (COMPOS Programme).

I focus on clear explanations, structured problem-solving, and exam technique to help students build confidence and achieve top grades. Sessions are tailored to each student, whether that’s strengthening fundamentals or tackling challenging exam-style questions.
Lessons are typically 90 minutes to allow for depth and practice, but I’m very flexible and happy to adapt to individual needs and schedules.

• 3+ years experience teaching GCSE, A-Level & Scottish exams
• Experience with both 1:1 and small-group tuition
