About Jedidiah
Hello! I'm a graduate from MIT with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering looking to pass on some knowledge to some inspired students. During my years studying computer science I also spent two semesters participating with the HKN tutoring service as a tutor to several classmates. The positive assessments I got from my tutees convinced me that I was well suited for teaching. Since then I've been informally tutoring many younger colleagues to help them get through their high school math. I'm very well versed in teaching Algebra, Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Statistics.

I typically use Virtual Reality as my medium of choice. Students do not need to have a VR headset and can participate via a video call, but joining me in VR is an option! For remote learning, VR provides an amazing opportunity to bring back some of the one-on-one benefits of in person learning while providing unique tools for explaining concepts. For instance, with a geometry problem where a student is asked to find the volume of a bizarre shape, I can quickly build that shape in 3 dimensions to help them visualize how to approach the problem. This benefit extends to being able to easily show vectors in 3D space, or model a physics problem easily with props that I can create on the spot. I'm really excited to exercise this tool with students to help them learn more.
On the more traditional side of teaching methods, many of my students have praised my ability to help them understand the process of mathematics without just giving them a bunch of shortcuts that skip over the understanding. I do this by focusing on whatever foundation they have and building up from there, rather than trying to build new concepts on lessons that they may not be solid with yet. I use a student's confidence in the material as a guide for what we can build on.
