About Jamie
Hi! I'm Jamie, I study electrical engineering at the University of Melbourne and I tutor high school students on the side. I've been tutoring for over 4 years, and still enjoy watching students connect ideas, improve performance, and see how the concepts are used in real life. I also work as a PASS facilitator at the University of Melbourne, running small Calculus workshops.
Outside of work and Uni, I help build electric FSAE racecars, and I'm a competitive distance runner and coach!

My tutoring sessions are generally 60-90 minutes long, and are conducted in person or online. Most sessions begin with a recap of the previous week's work, usually with some guided example questions. Then, I generally move onto explaining concepts the student is finding difficult, or working through tricky questions. At this point, I'll usually help the student by using scaffolding techniques, such as providing sentence starters, or writing out the steps for a calculation-style question. At the end of every lesson, I also keep a record of what was covered, and the student's strengths and weaknesses, so that nothing is missed!
I have 4+ years experience, initially as a volunteer high-school tutor, then as an online one-on-one tutor. I also work at the University of Melbourne, facilitating small group workshops for Calculus.
I generally tutor high-school students.
