About Sherman
The subjects I am most passionate about are Chemistry and Biochemistry as these were the subjects I majored in in college. I taught in the public school system for a few years and have been doing private tutoring for the past 15 years. I value knowledge because once it is attained it cannot be taken away from someone. If a person decides to use it, it becomes even more valuable. Chemistry can be an intimidating subject but once you understand it you will find it is a very interesting world. I want you to understand this world and see the beauty that I see.

My name is Sherman Coleman and I am originally from Houston, Texas. I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in chemistry from Dillard University and a Doctorate degree in Naturopathic Medicine from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Health Sciences. I have been tutoring since 2007 and I have passed the NES chemistry test for teachers. I have also taught 7th grade math science and ELA in the past.
I have always had a love for learning. This was evident when I was young and still exists today. I am the guy in the group who plays random trivia games to learn about new stuff that I have never been exposed to before. When I started college, I discovered that I also have a deep love for teaching/tutoring. I discovered the ultimate way to assess if you really know something is whether or not you can teach it to someone who may not be familiar with the subject matter. This is a great challenge, but I enjoy it. I love to see the look on a person's face when they "get it." I have also found that I too learn new things about the subject that I may not have known before. This is a rewarding experience for me.
My tutoring style usually involves understanding where the student is confused and guiding them to the right answer by explaining, demonstrating and then having the student demonstrate what they learned. I do this through practice questions, lecture notes and technology applications (Kahoot, Quizlet, IXL etc..)
