About Ashley
So, this paragraph began as a well-written, creative, introduction to me as an "inspiring" tutor, but then the webpage timed out and I lost ALL my work. Imagine working that hard and then one little thing completely derails your plans?? So, this is round two of my "about me" blurb. But, hey, if you've ever had this happen, or maybe you've "accidentally" procrastinated (k, wait, intentionally avoided) assignments, studying, or content review/notes, OR you need to learn legitimate studying & test-taking strategies. Or, just an idea, you want to build on a curricular skill that you need to grow in, but it just isn't being taught at your grade-level anymore? The possibilities are endless. I can help you with all of that AND MORE, GUYS. As someone who has ADHD & extreme anxiety (among other things), I've spent my life and career acquiring different skills, ideas, or strategies for my "personal toolbox." And I work on those strategies, every day, as a current middle school (Gr. 8/9) teacher, and I teach them out to students, and I practice them myself as a current MEd. Student working towards their graduate degree. I can also answer some of those larger, existential questions you may have about curriculum, assignments, assessment strategies/data, or specific skills (e.g. "WHY DO WE HAVE TO LEARN THIS?? WHY DO WE HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO DO THIS?? BRO, I AM LITERALLY NEVER GONNA WRITE AN ESSAY AGAIN IN MY LIFE..") Here's the twist, though: I can't really support with Math (or Physics, or Chemistry 30) beyond Grade 9. I can provide resources and we can work through as much as possible, but I do have a limit (and a learning disability in Math). But essays? Source analysis? Study skills? Navigating digital technologies? Enhancing literacy, media literacy, and developing or strengthening all the various skills that you gain consequently by schooling? That's me, and more. I'm no Miss Honey from "Matilda," but I try my best to make you YOUR best.

Tutoring sessions can be planned and structured by me (specific programming, skill-building, etc.), or I can support with "in-the-moment" assigned work, studying, etc. It's really up to you!
I'm quite adaptable in the moment and have a plethora of resources available to support student learning and progress.
Lessons/sessions can incorporate print-based resources, technology, or a hybrid combination of both. Additional costs will be applied for frequent/consistent use of print resources (to purchase or print materials). I can support learners in Grades 3-12; however, my skill set, method of teaching, and areas of strength are truly aimed at middle school and high school students (Grades 7-12).
I received my permanent teacher certification from Alberta Education in 2019, which was the same year I signed my continuous contract with a local school board. I have taught and subbed all grades from Preschool-Intervention (PIP) to Grade 12, and I have an extensive background in curricular planning, individual program planning (for students with learning disabilities, ADHD, etc.), and various methods of assessment/reporting on student progress and ability. I've also spent much of my career in my own classroom helping middle school students prepare for & transition to high school, learn employability skills, and prepare for formal testing/assessments and complex essay development.

Ashley’s tutoring knowledge and kind techniques makes her the best tutor for
our family. Her help with both our kids made school more enjoyable after working with her and her support. Extremely reliable and hard working. I highly recommend Ashley.Ashley worked very well with my son who has special needs. She always came prepared for tutoring sessions and worked patiently with him.
Ashley is amazing and breaking down information and instructions to the students understanding. So patient, kind hearted and personable. Ashley is very understanding and dedicated to her work. Amazing teacher the very best I think.
Ms T or Ashley, explains the steps to projects, assignments, and papers clearly and makes it easy for someone to understand. She create mind maps and ideas of paper and helps you find ways to do it on your own to build your idea generation process to be better. She helps by providing resources and websites to help study better and helps get my assignments done by working together not her just giving me the answer so I can do it by myself after a session with her. She is an amazing tutor and teacher and I could not recommend her more. She is funny and easy to talk to, she is one of the best tutors I have had!

Prices can fluctuate based on independent situations, circumstances, formatting of tutoring, etc. I do charge a higher rate as I am a current, classroom teacher with a permanent teaching certificate from Alberta Education, pursuing a Master of Education Degree in my free time.
I am really open to conversation and negotiation regarding my tutoring rates.
Tutoring is done in Airdrie, so no need for transportation fees; however, I do not have my own tutoring space, so we would likely hold sessions at the public library or local coffee shops.
