About Ruth
My name is Ruth Edwards.
I live in Sale near Manchester.
I have taught for thirty-five years in KS2 and have also done one-to-one tuition in a variety of settings (online and in-person).
I am passionate about helping children reach their full potential. I love to see the ‘lightbulb moments’ when they understand or gain a previously unknown skill – when it clicks and becomes embedded.
I am kind and caring and I love to help others learn.
As a child, I seriously lacked confidence with Maths and struggled to learn methods and concepts.
As a teacher, I have masses of confidence with Maths and teaching it in a fun and creative way so that children don’t have to feel how I felt as a child.

With 35 years of primary school teaching experience, predominantly in KS2, (10 years in Y6) I have extensive knowledge and expertise of the curriculum. I love to see children engaged and enjoying their learning – developing strategies and skills that will stick with them going forward.
I have used a wide range of valuable computer-based apps and activities to support teaching and learning – this is important in today’s online culture.
I am used to adapting my teaching to meet the needs of each child, enabling them to reach their potential at their own pace.
I have taught pupils with a wide range of additional needs – from low attainers to high achievers.
I am fully aware of how the relationship between teacher and pupil affects learning and that some children require one-to-one learning situations to develop their confidence. A busy classroom environment is not always the easiest place to learn; it can even be a barrier for some who need a quieter and less stressful setting.
