About Jordan
I have been tutoring and teaching maths for over ten years, in variety of settings and for a wide range of audience, from tutoring secondary school students with difficulties to teaching first grade university students for preparations of competitive exams.
On top of the hundreds of students I have taught or mentored at uni and secondary school, I have privately tutored over ten students, mostly secondary school students with difficulties in mathematics.
They all consistently improved their grades as well as developed a better understanding of maths. They passed their Baccalauréat and went on to study at university. The student which I am proudest of went on to achieve the rank of 2nd in a national competitive exam under my tutoring.
On top of my experience as a teacher, I have also done research and participated in a number of maths popularisation events. I am truly passionate about mathematics and can provide insights into maths history and current fields of applications in order to truly motivate and spark an interest in students.

I am a trained maths teacher and have been a maths researcher for seven years. I am passionate about maths and its applications, and love to pass on this knowledge and enthusiasm. My lessons are aimed at secondary school or sixth form students of all levels who feel they need the extra help during these difficult times.
My typical lesson structure is the following.
First we will go over what has been learned in class since our last session. This is a time for the student to ask me as many questions as they desire. I'll do my best to clarify all the concepts. (10~15 mins)
Then, we will do some exercises together on the subject at hand. This can be helping them on their homework, going over previous exercises, or giving them new exercises on the same theme, depending on needs. This has two objectives. Firstly, it is to have the student practice new concepts and techniques in order to learn them and perfect their problem solving skills. Secondly, it is also a way for me to check what has truly been understood and where there are still issues to work on, if any. (30~40 minutes)
One of the hard truth with maths is that mistakes are "cumulative", meaning that the student may not understand something now because of some misunderstandings from previous lessons. If needed, I'll use this time asking questions and giving exercises to understand where the misunderstanding comes from and address the issue with them.
If the student experiences difficulties, I will spend extra time ensuring that the requirements are met, through more guidance and exercises . If not, I will provide a challenge with more original exercises, in order to expand the students knowledge and hone their skills. (10~20 minutes)
Finally, I will set some homework to be done before next lesson.
I am fully aware that maths in an essential subject. As such, it is often seen as a source of stress, and can sometimes be perceived as a soulless list of abstract recipes to apply to a set of exercises. My goal with these lessons is, of course, to ensure that the student meets the syllabus expectations, but also for them to understand the methods and concepts rather than blindly learning them. I manage that by setting a safe and positive environment so that the student can feel free to ask anything and make mistakes, and, of course, by sharing my enthusiasm for the subject.

Jordan gave maths lessons to my son for about a year. Not only he managed to discover the source of my son's specific problems with maths but he also managed to make him comfortable with maths which was much more than what I was hoping for. My son is not afraid of maths anymore and it's mostly thanks to Jordan! (He's also very nice and cheerful: my son was happy to see him and work.) I warmly recommend him!
I have recommended students of all secondary school levels to Jordan and he has proven to be a patient and inspiring tutor. The feedback I have often received is that he helped them to understand parts of maths they were never felt confident with before. He ensure students are not just able to do exercises or answer questions, but that they truly understand the concepts behind them. Fantastic extra maths support for anyone!
