About Xander
My journey into mathematics education began with a deep desire to help students overcome fear and self-doubt around maths learning. I earned an M.Sc in Mathematics Education, where I studied curriculum design, assessment strategies, and learning psychology to better support diverse learners. Over the past 12 years, I have worked extensively with students in elementary school maths, middle school maths, geometry, algebra, and SAT maths, guiding them towards clarity and confidence. I teach with empathy, patience, and adaptability, always adjusting explanations to suit each learner’s pace and style. I use visual representations, step-by-step reasoning, and real-world examples to make abstract concepts accessible. Many students who once struggled gradually develop independence and belief in their abilities. Outside teaching, I design customised practice materials, study educational research, and refine instructional strategies. Teaching mathematics is deeply fulfilling because it empowers students with confidence, resilience, and lifelong analytical skills.

Mathematics becomes far more approachable when students understand how ideas connect logically instead of viewing formulae as isolated rules. In my lessons, I guide learners through elementary school maths, middle school maths, geometry, algebra, and SAT maths using structured explanations that emphasise reasoning, clarity, and consistency. I focus on helping students see patterns, relationships, and logical progressions so they can approach problems calmly and confidently. Lesson plans are carefully personalised to each learner’s level and goals. Beginners build strong number sense, arithmetic fluency, and foundational reasoning skills. Intermediate learners strengthen geometry understanding, algebraic manipulation, proportional reasoning, and multi-step problem-solving. Advanced learners focus on SAT maths strategies, efficient reasoning, accuracy under time pressure, and tackling unfamiliar problems. Guided practice and reflection are central to every lesson. Maths lessons also help students develop patience, focus, and structured thinking habits. As confidence grows in algebra and geometry, learners approach challenges with greater persistence and independence. My goal is to help students trust their reasoning abilities and develop mathematical skills that support long-term academic success.
