About Hamidreza
I was born on April 18, 1958, in Kermanshah, Iran. In June 1977, I completed my B.Sc. degree with the highest honors at the age of 19 and my MSc degree in September 1980.both from Northeastern University, Boston Massachusetts, USA. From 1978 to 1980, I fulfilled my TA duties by instructing first-year calculus courses for freshman students.
I commenced my academic career as a lecturer at the Department of Mathematics of Isfahan University of Technology (IUT) in 1983. Within this role, I delivered various undergraduate courses, including calculus for diverse disciplines, elementary differential equations, mathematical analysis I, linear algebra, and advanced engineering mathematics.
In Jan 1988, I pursue my studies further at university of British Columbia(UBC) as a Ph.D. student in mathematics where I was offered both teaching and research assistantships (TA and RA). During my studies at UBC, I fulfilled my TA duties by teaching Calculus I and II to engineering students and providing tutorials for Boundary value problems. Furthermore, I received the esteemed University Graduate Fellowship (UGF), which alleviated some of my TA responsibilities. I successfully defended my PhD thesis in August 1993, marking a significant milestone in my academic journey. Subsequently, I returned to IUT in September 1993, where I was appointed as an Assistant Professor. My dedication to teaching and research, coupled with notable accomplishments, led to my promotion as an Associate Professor in October 2007 and further advancement to the position of full professor in February 2013. Recognizing my contributions, I retired from my esteemed role as a full professor in mathematics in February 2018. Throughout my tenure, I had the privilege of teaching a wide range of graduate and undergraduate courses, making valuable contributions to the academic community.
In January 2011, I embarked on a sabbatical leave from IUT, which lasted for a period of 13 months. During this time, I was invited by Professor Wayne Nagata and the Department of Mathematics at the University of British Columbia (UBC) to serve as a visiting professor of mathematics. I conducted a course and engaged in collaborative research work, yielding fruitful results. Additionally, I had the privilege of accepting an invitation from Professor Hans Crauel to visit the Göthe University of Frankfurt as a visiting professor from October 2011 to February 2012. During this period, I had the opportunity to teach a graduate course and engage in joint research endeavors. Notably, we jointly supervised a Ph.D. student from IUT, further strengthening our academic collaboration.
These experiences have enriched my academic journey and further solidified my commitment to advancing mathematical knowledge through teaching, research, and collaborative efforts with esteemed colleagues.

Throughout my teaching career, my primary objective has been for our students to achieve the following outcomes:
1. Enhance their approaches to learning from instruction particularly for solving special problems by becoming more skilled readers, note-takers, and strategic learners.
2. Expand their toolbox of methods to solve problems by becoming more skilled at explicitly thinking about their reasoning processes and developing strategies that work for them. From my experience I know that potential students can generalize these methods and processes to other disciplines and transfer them to other quantitative problem-solving courses and independent work.
3. Develop systematic methods for learning from problem sets, including how to apply and transfer conceptual knowledge; identify common obstacles and errors; and contextualize individual problems within the themes and concepts of the course.
My sessions are enjoyable and rigorous at the same time, I follow along related curriculum with tutoring sessions that are engaging, interactive, and fun for each student. One simple goal that guides me in every steps that I do; is to give students the skills and confidence they need to tackle unfamiliar questions and find their own correct answers, so as the student reaches higher level of their studies, have the skills to study independently, organize their time wisely and stay focused on tasks.
