About Riley
My love for mathematics began when I discovered the satisfaction of solving problems that once seemed difficult or confusing. This passion led me to pursue an M.Sc in Mathematical Sciences, where I explored algebra, geometry, data analysis, and mathematical modeling. Over 12 years of teaching, I have worked with learners across all levels—from elementary school math and middle school math to advanced algebra, geometry, and SAT math—helping them develop clarity, problem-solving skills, and confidence. I focus on providing patient, structured, and adaptive instruction tailored to each student’s pace and learning style. My lessons include visual aids, examples from everyday life, step-by-step explanations, and interactive problem-solving. I encourage curiosity, persistence, and independent thinking, ensuring students gain a strong foundation in mathematics. Outside teaching, I explore educational tools, innovative approaches, and new mathematical developments to enrich lessons. Watching students move from uncertainty to understanding, and from hesitation to confidence, is one of the most rewarding aspects of my teaching career.

Mathematics becomes approachable when students understand the logic behind each concept rather than just memorizing formulas. In my lessons, I begin with elementary school math, including number operations, visual models, pattern recognition, and early problem-solving. This foundation supports students as they progress to middle school math, where we explore integers, fractions, ratios, proportions, basic algebra, and introductory geometry. Step-by-step explanations, practice exercises, and real-world examples help students gain confidence and develop strong reasoning skills.
As learners advance, we tackle more complex problems, including equations, functions, graph interpretation, geometric proofs, and multi-step applications. I integrate SAT math strategies, teaching students time management, efficient reasoning, and methods to approach challenging problems systematically. Each lesson emphasizes understanding, clarity, and practical application, ensuring learners can solve problems with confidence.
Advanced sessions focus on analytical thinking, modeling, and real-world problem-solving. Students learn to evaluate multiple solution methods, strengthen logical reasoning, and communicate results clearly. My goal is to help learners develop both skill and confidence while fostering a lifelong appreciation for mathematics.
