About Emma
Since I was 14 I have helped my babysittees and brothers with their Maths homework, which has given me experience in how different children's brains work and understand maths. My tutee was then successful in achieving her 11 plus.
Other experience I have includes one on one maths tutoring at a Primary School as part of an extra curricula club at school. This helped to prepare children for Secondary school level maths, when they were struggling or apprehensive about the jump.
Additionally, volunteering at Cubs has developed my patience and ability to engage with younger children. I believe this makes me an able teacher of all ages, as patience is required to provide a full explanation of maths and put myself in the shoes of the person misunderstanding.

My name is Emma, and I am an undergraduate Maths student with a passion for helping others enjoy maths as much as I do. I feel as if the vital maths techniques learnt properly will stick with someone for a lifetime, and it is wonderful to see someone grab this concept for the first time.
The lesson structure might look like:
-Highlighting an objective to tackle
-Going through the theory
-Going through Examples
-Providing questions for the individual to try.
-Going through the questions
My method of teaching will involve encouraging the individual to reach the answer themselves in order to give a taste for the satisfaction felt when this happens! By associating maths with this positive emotion, it will hopefully make it more enjoyable, thus making it easier to tackle a problem in the future.
