About Akshay
I’m a dedicated and experienced Maths tutor with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Loughborough University and over 7 years of experience working with students at GCSE and A-Level. My journey into tutoring began during my time at university, where I discovered how much I enjoy breaking down difficult topics and helping others understand and apply them with confidence. Over the years, I’ve worked with students from a wide range of abilities and backgrounds — from those who were struggling to pass, to those aiming for top grades. I’ve helped many of my students achieve 2 or even 3-grade improvements, and what I enjoy most is seeing that moment when a topic finally “clicks” for them. It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of their progress. Coming from an engineering background, I bring a practical, logical approach to teaching Maths. I focus on building real understanding rather than memorising steps — and I use structured, proven methods that work. I also aim to create a calm and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes — because that’s how real learning happens. I truly believe that with the right support, any student can do well in Maths. I’m passionate about helping my students develop not just their skills, but also their confidence. I am an experienced Maths tutor with over 7 years of tutoring GCSE and A-Level students. I have a Mechanical Engineering degree from Loughborough University, and ever since then my passion for teaching has grown! I specialise in helping students gain confidence and achieve results using clear, structured, and proven teaching methods. Every lesson is personalised to the student’s level, whether they’re aiming to pass or push for top grades. Lessons are typically 60 minutes and include a mix of explanation, guided practice, and exam-style questions. I focus on building understanding step-by-step, identifying gaps, and using methods that make complex topics more approachable. My students often see significant improvements in both ability and confidence within just a few weeks. I work with students aged 14–18 (Year 9 to Year 13) across all exam boards, both online and in-person (East Midlands-based). I’m passionate about helping each student reach their full potential and always aim to make Maths feel less stressful and more manageable :)
