I like to be open minded with my students and I use real world scenarios most of the times in explaining certain concepts. For example, if I am to teach probability, I'll come with maybe colored balls to give an illustration and break down the topic. I feel this approach tends to stick into students in the long term. I used this approach on certain college students and it proved to be very effective.
