About Adam

As an honors student and mathematics major at The University of Texas at Austin, I have a deep knowledge in many math subjects. As a tutor of high school level math for 3 years, I also have experience in explaining difficult concepts to students and helping them grow as students. In tandem, I'm able to provide students with the foundations to tackle any mathematical problems on their own.

My own qualifications include Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus I, Calculus II, receiving A's in each one during my high school tenure. Furthermore, I've received A's in Calculus III, Calculus IV/Vector Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and more proof-based courses such as Discrete Math and theoretical Linear Algebra during my collegiate years.

I also have deep experience in more difficult math subjects such as concepts in Abstract Algebra (including Group Theory, Ring Theory, and Representation Theory), Topology, and Real Analysis. I've currently been reading through texts on Commutative Algebras as well, and I am interested in reading more into Homological Algebra and Algebraic Geometry.

Math as a whole attracts a strong negative perspective from many students. I believe, however, that when taught correctly, math has the potential to be far less stigmatized. To that end, my teaching methods don't purely focus on memorizing formulas or calculations, but rather enforce the intuition behind various mathematical concepts. My students don't just know what the formulas are, but rather why they exist. This enables students to not just answer predictable problems, but to excel at any problem they're given.

I'm a mathematics major in the prestigious Dean's Scholars Honors Program at The University of Texas at Austin. To this extent, I know what it's like to be in a difficult math course and not know how to get help with difficult problems or concepts. As such, I can better help students excel in a wide variety of math subjects because I can relate to their struggles and thus understand where they're coming from.

My lesson plans begin with a review of concepts, including visual aids when applicable, and explanations of the intuitions behind concepts. The latter parts of my lessons consist of practice problems, both guided by me and some for just the student, in order to help reinforce said concepts.

As a high school math tutor, my lessons are primarily targeted towards high school or middle school students. However, I'm more than willing to make accommodations for higher or lower grades if needed.

I generally teach Algebra I, Algebra II, Precalculus, AP Calculus AB/BC. However, I'm more than willing to tutor in even more advanced subjects such as Calculus III, Vector Calculus, and Linear Algebra.
