About Roger
I have been tutoring for fourteen years and teaching for twelve. My students have gone on to careers in engineering, computer science, elementary and secondary education, and numerous other rewarding careers. I first learned to love mathematics as a remedial math student. I was afraid of math until an excellent teacher taught me to think about what the mathematics meant, instead of focusing on "the rules." I emphasize knowing why as a means to understand how. To this end, I work actively to encourage collaboration and questions, use my knowledge about math history, facility with technology, and my content and pedagogical content knowledge to kindle a flame of passion about mathematics in the minds of my students.
