About Axel
Hi, I’m Axel I’m a Mechanical Engineer in the aerospace field and a Columbia University graduate with over 6 years of experience teaching mathematics to high school and college students. I’ve always been passionate about math and science, and I love helping students discover the joy that comes from truly understanding and solving problems. Alongside my academic background, I’ve led a variety of projects both within engineering and beyond. These experiences shaped my human-centered approach, teaching me how to listen, adapt, and connect concepts to real-world situations that feel meaningful. My goal is to inspire the next generation of learners to not only excel in math but to genuinely enjoy the process of learning and discovery.

I have 6+ years of experience teaching mathematics to both high school and college students. I love helping learners not only get the right answer but also understand the “why” behind the math — so that problem-solving feels natural and even enjoyable.
My lessons are dynamic and can be customized to your goals. A typical session might include:
• A quick check-in to review what you already know and where you feel stuck
• A clear breakdown of the day’s concept with real-world examples (often drawn from engineering or science)
• Guided practice together, building confidence step by step
• Independent practice with feedback to strengthen problem-solving skills
• A wrap-up with key takeaways and small goals for next time
I also speak Spanish, so I can explain concepts in either English or Spanish depending on what feels most comfortable.
