About Jacob
When I was a kid, I wasn't the smartest. As a matter of fact, I was probably one of the more under-performing kids in class. I didn't understand how school worked, nor did I understand what needed to be done in order to succeed in the academic setting. As I got older, I started to perform better and better. I was really good at math because math made sense to me. So when I started tutoring math, it was really easy for me to relay what I was thinking to my peers. It's extremely gratifying when students come back to you and tell you how much you've helped them. I'm not saying all this to boast in my abilities, I just love seeing that light bulb go off in a person's head. I think if I can help influence at least one life, then I've done my job!

Part of what made me such a good tutor when I tutored in undergrad was my ability to relate to students of all kinds. I know based on my experiences with tutors that what most students want out of their tutor is a peer rather than somewhat of a younger teacher instructing them as if they were in class. What I like to do is I like to get to know the student, and I like to get to know where and why the student struggles in a certain area, then work from there. Different methods work for different people, and I am excited to learn more about you and myself in the process as well
