There are many dynamics involved in finding the optimal tutor for your situation. My greatest growth stories come from a combination of personalized instruction, AND helping students improve "soft" skills such as perseverance, time management, and framing situations positively.
Some personalities clash with each other and while it is important to learn to work through these in life, tutoring is usually going to be a relatively short amount of time for this type of development.
