About Laurie
During University I tutored Maths to students from other faculties and to 1st year Maths students, both in England and the US.
Since then I have been tutoring Maths and Physics part time to high school students in various countries around the world. I have experience teaching IB and high school curriculum from Canada, US, UK, Australia and New Zealand.
At University in Leeds I took part in a program that allowed Maths students to teach to teenagers in 6th forms and FE colleges.
I have also been coaching sport since a very young age. Between 16 and 18 I coached basketball to children in Liverpool, from 2007 - 2008 I coached football to children and adults in Leeds, and since then I have been coaching and instructing skiing at resorts all over the world.

I believe in student-centred learning. All students are different and learn in different ways, and in a 1 on 1 setting it is possible to tailor each lesson to suit the student.
When it comes to precise and logical subjects such as Maths and Physics, I believe very strongly in teaching students not just how to do something, but why to do it, which I believe is lacking in most classrooms. It is only by understanding the foundations that students can think independently and approach problems with confidence.

Laurie taught my son Math- he was great - he made complicated things understandable and lit up my son's curiosity and interest. I think he's a good teacher
Laurie was my tutor when I was struggling with the math credits I needed to finish my degree.
He was amazing, so patient and knowledgeable. He was able to simplify everything and explain things in ways that made sense to me, and created a great learning environment.
Laurie is the best teacher I have ever had!View more recommendations
