Hello! I'm J.R., a Materials Science PhD student at the University of Colorado Boulder. When earning my B.S./M.S. in chemistry I taught many lab classes and served as a private tutor for 12 different students. Each one of their grades improved by two full letter grades, 3 of which were able to get As in their courses.

My tutoring approach is very simple and straightforward. First I work with you to understand your current knowledge on whatever subject we may be covering. Then we go through everything together and make sure we fill all the holes or gaps in your understanding to build a solid foundation of the subject. From there, we tackle the tougher topics and isolate a method of learning that works best for you. In addition, I give you tools and ways to think about and solve problems that you can carry with you for any subject matter.
