About James
I am young (23) and have a great love for my subject and, by extension, the wish to transfer this to others so that they may nurture their own passion in this field as I did.
My qualifications are currently a 1st Class BA Hons in English Literature with an extra year in Budapest where I studied American Literature. I will be attending UCL over the next year for an MA in Comparative Literature. I have editorial experience at a literary magazine, and am currently enrolled in a mentor programme with a Commissioning Editor at Penguin Publishing.

From my own experience with my favourite teachers, so much depends on the two following factors for effective education: firstly, the teacher's own love of the subject, and secondly, the ability of the teacher to both communicate and nurture this within the student.
A deep interest in a subject comes from developing one's own confidence within it. Trusting your own interpretations and opinions, personal areas of interest, and of course knowledge makes a very daunting subject become the most interesting. The more you learn, the more you realise there is yet to be learnt, and in a subject like literature this can lead to a life dedicated to educating oneself within this field - as it has in my own.
My classes can run for any length between 30 and 90 minutes depending on the need of each student. Preferring quality over quantity, I would much rather have fewer students for whom I can invest time and effort than a greater number, and this will ensure I can provide the highest standard of teaching.
My lessons are for all ages, with preference for GCSE, A-Level, and Undergraduate as I have first-hand experience at these levels.
