About Lydia Joy
I have a foundation of linguistics from my BA degree; a Cert IV in TESOL and a Masters in Applied Linguistics in TESOL. I have 2 years experience of teaching students from multiple linguistic backgrounds and I love learning about new cultures! I’m passionate about English and my linguistics background paired with the practical experience I have acquired teaching English gives me a unique insight into different aspects of language!

My approach to teaching varies based on each student’s individual needs, and I’m intent on tailoring classes based on learning styles as well as the context for which each person is learning English. I think it’s very important to teach engaging classes, and I use imagery and colours a lot during my lessons to help memory strategies develop! I think consistent speaking activities are essential, particularly in developing a student’s confidence with their target language!
