About Valerie
When I first started my career in mathematics, math was not my favorite subject and I struggled with it. However, after years of dedication I graduated with a bachelors in applied mathematics, with a 4.0 GPA, and was admitted to Northwestern's applied mathematics Phd program full ride. I have a masters in applied math from NU, and have conducted graduate level research in math.
Even if math isn't your favorite subject and you struggle with it, with patience and hard work I believe I can teach you to excel at it too. A lot of people believe they are not cut out for math but that is not true. A strong understanding of mathematics is a worthwhile investment in your future, because it teaches you effective ways to think about and dissect a broad range of problems society faces. I would love to help you learn to enjoy and appreciate math, and excel at it too!

I can meet over various video platforms e.g. zoom.
I can write out problems and solutions on a shared ipad screen and provide files of the notes for students to review after the sessions.
In addition to working through and explaining tough problems with students, I can also provide tips and techniques to improve mastery.
I can help with homework in addition to test preparation. I can also coach students who are interested in making straight A's in college and going to graduate school.
