About Lola
My name is Lauren (Lola) and I'm a master's student at UofO. I have a diploma in Studio Fine Arts, as well as an honours degree in Public Relations and Communications Management.
I've worked with disabled children/ young adults for as long as I can remember, and am familiar with what it's like to not understand assignments, teacher's instructions, or even how to study. I have strategies I use that I'd love to teach to others, that allowed me to be in the top five students in my graduating class.
Being confused and frustrated sucks when all you want to do is succeed. It really sucks when everyone else gets it, but you don't. I've been there, and I can help.

What sets me apart as a tutor?
As someone with a learning disability/invisible disability, I understand obstacles most disabled children face with traditional school curriculum.
Being disabled is hard; things that are considered "simple" for most people are incredibly difficult for us. Through an immense amount of personal trial and error, I've been able to modify curriculum to fit my needs- as well as those who also require integrative curriculum or assistance. I also have first-hand experience advocating for myself and others within the school board, and am able to communicate learning needs effectively.
I specialize in individuals with visual disabilities, like my own. I teach effective essay writing, visual organization techniques, homework help, and techniques to sort through difficult assignments and written instructions.
I'd like every parent to remember:
Your child is not "lazy." Your child is not "difficult." Your child may actually be smarter than most, and provided the proper instruction, can be the best they can be.
