About Matte
With 12 years' of drumming experience and a Master’s in Music Performance, I bring advanced musical knowledge, discipline, and passion to every lesson. I’ve performed in orchestras, jazz groups, theatre productions, touring ensembles, and recording studios, allowing me to teach drumming from multiple professional perspectives. My lessons focus on detailed technique, rhythmic accuracy, dynamic shaping, and expressive playing. I believe in giving students solid foundations while encouraging them to think musically rather than mechanically. Each lesson is customised to fit the student’s goals, whether they want to prepare for auditions, perform in bands, improve coordination, or simply enjoy learning at their own pace.
I incorporate sheet music reading, groove building, technique drills, improvisation, and song interpretation to create a well-rounded curriculum. My teaching environment is motivating, structured, and supportive, helping students feel confident and inspired. I emphasise clear communication, patience, and positive reinforcement. Students receive practice plans that support steady improvement and help them track their progress over time. I love watching learners grow into expressive and technically skilled musicians.
Drumming is a powerful outlet for creativity and connection, and I strive to help every student develop both their confidence and their unique musical voice. Teaching is one of the most fulfilling parts of my life, and I’m committed to guiding each drummer towards their highest potential.

My drum lessons are designed to nurture creativity, improvisation, and personal expression while strengthening technical skill. Each lesson is customised to the student’s level, whether they are beginners exploring basic rhythms, intermediate learners experimenting with patterns, or advanced drummers developing complex improvisation skills. Lessons cover timing, stick control, hand independence, coordination, groove, dynamics, rhythm reading, and expressive phrasing. I incorporate exercises, song practice, play-alongs, and improvisation challenges to make lessons practical, inspiring, and fun. Students receive guidance on effective practice routines, goal-setting, and milestone tracking to ensure consistent growth.
My teaching environment is positive, supportive, and encouraging, allowing learners to take creative risks and develop their unique style. Lessons emphasise listening skills, musical analysis, and application in both solo and ensemble contexts. Students gradually develop technical mastery, coordination, rhythmic independence, and expressive ability. Milestones are celebrated to maintain motivation and reinforce achievement. Each session balances structured skill development with creative exploration to foster independence and artistic growth. Drumming becomes a tool for communication, self-expression, and emotional connection. Students develop adaptability, problem-solving, and musical awareness alongside technical skill.
