About Marisa
Hi, I'm Marisa! I'm a literacy, reading, and ESL tutor with 6 years of experience working with K–5 students both online and in school settings. I currently work as a substitute teacher, which keeps me closely connected to what children are learning in the classroom every day.
I hold a Master of Science in Foreign Language Education (TESOL track) and a Bachelor of Arts in English, both from Florida International University. My academic background, combined with hands-on classroom experience, gives me a well-rounded understanding of how young learners develop language and literacy skills.
I'm passionate about working with children — especially those navigating English as a second language. I know firsthand how transformative it is when a child finds their footing in reading and communication. Language and literacy aren't just academic skills; they're the foundation for everything else a child will learn and experience.
I bring patience, warmth, and genuine enthusiasm to every session, and I tailor my approach to fit each student's unique needs and pace. Whether your child is just beginning to read or working to strengthen their English skills, I'm here to support them every step of the way.
