About Hazel
My teaching approach focuses on helping students grow both technically and creatively on the guitar. I cover important skills like classical fingerpicking, reading music from the staff, and hybrid picking techniques to add variety and control to your playing. We also work on tonal control so you can shape your sound to match your style and mood. I understand that some students want to break the rules and find their own path. I encourage this spirit by supporting creativity and helping you develop a strong foundation to back it up. For those interested in recording and producing music, I offer guidance on how to translate your ideas into polished tracks. Lessons are tailored to your goals, whether you want to master fingerstyle pieces or create your own songs. I use clear explanations and practical exercises to make learning simple and fun. We also practice playing by ear and improvisation to build confidence and musical freedom. I’m patient and supportive, always encouraging you to express yourself through the guitar. Together, we’ll build skills that last and unlock your unique musical voice.

I’m a guitar teacher with over 9 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music Education, specializing in guitar. My passion is helping students find their unique voice through the instrument. For me, music is more than just notes and chords — it’s a way to express emotion and tell stories. I focus on building solid technique from the ground up, ensuring my students gain confidence and control across the fretboard. Alongside technique, I emphasize strong theory knowledge to deepen understanding and creativity.
I believe that practical fluency—being able to apply skills smoothly in real playing situations—is key to musical growth. Whether you’re a beginner or more advanced, I tailor lessons to your goals and pace. We explore a variety of styles and songs to keep learning engaging and relevant. Ear training and improvisation are regular parts of my approach, helping students develop listening skills and spontaneity.
