About Terri
I believe in empowering students to use habits of mind in order to actively involve students in their learning. I believe in teaching students to identify what they know, what they want to know, and expressing what they learned during the tutoring session. I also have students think about and discuss with me what their confidence level is on the skill. These habits of mind help students be able to articulate and express where true understanding and gaps within their learning are. This helps the tutor to effectively address areas of need for the student.

-Experience in multiple learning styles and techniques -Multiple years teaching middle school English Language Arts and Mathematics courses in Georgia -B.S. in Elementary Education -M.S. in Education (Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment) -30 hours beyond a Master's Degree in Gifted, Leadership, and Reading Specialist -Writing (Composition) for Middle, High, and College level courses -Math for Middle, High (Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II), and College (College Algebra). -Math lessons often include use of visual methods to teach math. Lessons include the tutor modeling how to work problems, allowing students to work problems with feedback, and then finally work problems independently. -Writing lessons use the steps of the writing process and feedback/suggestions to improve writing skills.
