About Miranda

With over eight years of dedicated experience in editing and freelancing, I bring a wealth of expertise to my role as an English tutor. Throughout my career, I have honed my skills by publishing numerous short stories and essays, showcasing a deep understanding of language intricacies and narrative structures. Having spent over two years tutoring English at GMC, I have successfully guided students in mastering the complexities of the language. Additionally, I have had the honor of being a guest lecturer for English courses at GCSU, further attesting to my commitment to education and my ability to impart knowledge effectively. As your tutor, I am dedicated to providing a professional and enriching learning experience that instills confidence in every student I work with. I truly believe that it's language and words that connect us. That's why I feel it is so important to have a keen grasp on.

Some unrelated fun facts: I'm a sucker for tacos, traveling, going to the movie theater, The Office, and people who can quote The Office.

As an English tutor, my approach revolves around fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment. I believe in tailoring my teaching methods to suit the individual needs and learning styles of my students. My goal is not just to impart knowledge but to inspire a genuine appreciation for the English language.

I employ a variety of teaching methods and techniques to cater to diverse learning preferences. This includes interactive discussions, hands-on activities, multimedia resources, and real-life examples to make language concepts relatable and memorable.

Introduction and Goal Setting: Begin with a brief discussion to understand the student's goals and objectives.
Warm-up Activity: Engage students with a quick language-related game or discussion to set a positive and interactive tone.
Main Lesson: Introduce the targeted language concept through a mix of explanations, examples, and interactive exercises.
Practice Session: Provide guided practice opportunities to reinforce the newly learned concepts.
Feedback and Correction: Offer constructive feedback on language use and address any errors to facilitate improvement.
Discussion and Application: Encourage open discussions and real-life application of language skills to enhance practical understanding.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my publication achievements, which includes more than twenty published essays and short stories in various literary journals and magazines. On top of that, I infuse creativity into my lessons to keep students motivated and engaged, making the learning process enjoyable. I also draw from my experience as an editor, bringing a keen eye for detail and accuracy to assist students in refining their written and spoken expressions. These lessons are for early college level students.
