About Cheah
As Cheah, I take pride in providing professional, structured, and reliable Mandarin lessons that students and parents can trust. With a strong educational background from a Chinese school and further studies at university level, I have developed both a deep understanding of the language and the ability to explain it clearly and effectively.
I am patient, well-organized, and committed to helping each student progress at a comfortable but steady pace. Every lesson is carefully prepared to suit the student’s level and goals, ensuring that time is used efficiently and productively. I also track progress and adjust my teaching methods when needed so that students continue improving with confidence.
Students can expect a supportive and respectful learning environment where mistakes are part of the learning process. I focus not only on academic results but also on building long-term language skills and confidence in speaking, reading, and writing Mandarin.
With my combination of formal education, clear teaching approach, and dedication to student success, I aim to deliver lessons that are both effective and enjoyable.

My approach to tutoring is student-centered, practical, and focused on building real confidence in using Mandarin. As Cheah, I tailor each lesson based on the student’s level, goals, and learning style, whether they are complete beginners or more advanced learners. I combine structured teaching with interactive techniques such as conversation practice, role-playing, listening exercises, and reading comprehension to ensure students not only understand the language but can actively use it in real-life situations.
A typical lesson lasts between 60 to 90 minutes. For beginners, I focus on strong foundations such as pronunciation (pinyin), basic vocabulary, and sentence structure. For intermediate and advanced students, lessons include more conversation, writing, and comprehension, along with exposure to real-world materials like articles or dialogues. I also provide guidance for students preparing for exams or looking to improve academically.
I have a strong background in Mandarin, having studied in a Chinese school environment and continued my education at the university level. This has given me a solid understanding of both formal and practical Mandarin usage, allowing me to teach effectively across different levels.
My lessons are suitable for a wide range of students, including primary and secondary school students, university learners, and adults who want to improve their Mandarin for personal, academic, or professional purposes.
