About Hugo
I am a 20 year old student at University of Manchester going into my 3rd year of physics with a predicted first class degree.
In sixthform I went through the IB, achieving:
7 in physics (translates to A* in A level physics)
6 in maths higher (translates to A in further maths)
For GCSE:
A* in physics and 8 in mathematics.

Subjects like mathematics or physics can be hard, but also very beautiful and thought provoking.
First, I like to make contact with the student via email in order to work out what areas they want to be strengthened in or just understand. Most importantly, I want to understand what the student's goals are. Although academic success is important, extra focus can be placed on areas that might be useful to them in the future.
On first meeting, briefly understanding the student at a personal level and what they need is the first thing that I attempt to achieve. After this, depending on what the student's have asked for, we go through problems and fix missunderstandings or if needed re teach the content. By focusing on specific examples and breaking the course down into digestible bites, I help my students better understand the course and the ideas behind it.
After the first lesson, depending on the student, I like to first start by showing them why the topics they are looking at re interesting and exciting! This helps the students better engage with the topics and learn much faster.
