About Hugo
Are you ready to master economics?
I’m Hugo, a recent MSc Economics graduate from the London School of Economics, where I mastered advanced macro and econometric methods and graduated with distinction. At LSE, I deepened my understanding of monetary policy, growth theory, and statistical modeling, skills I now simplify and share with my students.
Education & Experience:
- Master’s in Economics, London School of Economics: rigorous training in econometrics, macroeconomics, and policy analysis
- Ranked top of my class at Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas, where I first discovered how to translate complex theory into clear, relatable lessons
- Hands-on policy consulting in Cambodia, applying economic models to real-world challenges
- Author of “Unpacking Macro with Hugo”, a weekly newsletter breaking down global trends into digestible insights
What I Offer:
With a teaching style rooted in my LSE training, I use current events, real-life examples, and a step-by-step approach to help you:
- Build solid foundations in GCSE or A-level economics
- Master undergraduate econometrics and statistical techniques
- Gain confidence in tackling problem sets, essays, and exam questions
Sessions are tailored to your pace and learning style, delivered online or in person, in English or French. Let’s harness the power of LSE-level economics together and turn confusion into clarity. Ready to get started?

How I Help Students Master Economics:
My Teaching Approach, Making Economics Click:
I start with a simple belief: if you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough. That's why I break down intimidating economic theory into everyday language, then show you exactly how it works in the real world. Think inflation through your morning coffee getting more expensive, or game theory through why Netflix keeps raising prices – suddenly these concepts aren't abstract anymore, they're part of your daily life.
Active Learning - You Do Most of the Talking:
Forget sitting quietly while I lecture. I'll ask questions that make you think, throw in quick polls to check understanding, and use mini-case studies where you solve actual economic problems. You'll be surprised how much more you remember when you're actively figuring things out rather than just listening.
Structured Progress Tracking: Every topic ends with a quick "checkpoint" – think of it as a friendly exam-style question that shows us both where you stand. No surprises, no gaps left unfilled. We catch misunderstandings early and build your exam confidence alongside your understanding.
Lesson Format That Actually Works:
60-Minute Core Sessions: Just long enough to dive deep, short enough to stay focused. Each lesson is completely tailored to your needs and learning style.
90-Minute Deep Dives: Available when you need extra support before exams or want to tackle complex topics like econometrics or dissertation work.
Always End with Clarity: Every session finishes with a quick 5-minute recap and your personal action plan. You'll never leave wondering "what do I do next?".
I teach students at every level because good economics education shouldn't depend on where you're starting from:
- GCSE & IGCSE Economics: Building solid foundations
- A-Level & IB (SL & HL): Mastering complex theory and application
- University Undergraduates: Core theory, econometrics, public economics, development economics
Whether you're online anywhere in the world or prefer meeting in person in central London, I'll adapt to what works best for you.
The goal isn't just better grades – it's genuine understanding that makes you confident tackling any economic question that comes your way.

Hugo will be able to capitalise on his excellent academic background by passing on his passion for economic mechanisms. In addition, he will teach his classes with patience and pedagogical skill.Hugo has been tutoring me over the last year, and has hugely improved my grades. He has explained concepts to me in different ways to aid my understanding, and made the effort to ensure that I was given plenty of materials to use in my own time too. He is extremely patient, reassuring (which I definitely needed!) and knowledgeable. Without his help, my grades and my academic confidence would’ve been a disaster!
