About Gloria
I am an avid Rock climber who travels across the world climbing up different rock formations and meeting new, and wonderful people. Although this passion brings me much, it does not fulfill the meaning that teaching and helping others bring me. I am currently pursuing options in the medical field as I am deeply passionate about this field but until then I am using tutoring to fill the gap.
I was awarded a scholarship to a very competitive program at U of T: the Paramedicine and Life Sciences joint program. I thrived in this program but due to a recently developed heart problem, Ive had to put school on hold and have since taken up climbing full-time whilst pursuing medical treatment.

Teaching is something I've loved and been drawn to do since I was in elementary school. I was that student who'd finish their math homework first and go around helping others with theirs.
In my years of teaching others, I make it my personal challenge to find the best way to make a complicated concept not only conceivable to my student but interesting. This way not only will they understand the concept but they will be reminded why knowledge can be amazing and keep them motivated to dip deeper.
I have worked with elementary students, high school students, high school students with learning disabilities (all types), and recently University students.
Due to all my courses taken in psychology I have learned that the best way for students to be able to learn is through being met with adequate challenge for their specific level of expertise in a subject - to go JUST beyond an individuals specific threshold and give them adequate support in doing so. A normal classroom fails to do this: many individuals are either not challenged enough or get frustrated by being too behind leaving the student uninterested and unmotivated. This is one of the biggest benefits of one-on-one tutoring: I can fine tune my style of tutoring to my specific students needs and level in order to get the best out of it for them. I also adopt certain methods of studying that psychology research has shown to be the most effective at prepping students for success on tests: such as formulating test questions, getting the student to explain major concepts to me, teaching the student how to make connections between concepts for long term memory storage, and so forth.
Subjects I can teach:
- All math courses from Gr 7 - 12 (including calculus, advanced functions and Data management)
- Biology courses from Grade 10-12 and specific University Biology courses (Human physiology courses, cell biology, etc) for undergrad Life Science or Biology Students
- English courses from Gr 7 -12
- Advanced statistics course: University course for undergrad students
- All psychology courses from high school to university (message to double check). Specialization in: introductory neuroscience courses for undergrad students
