About Adam
Maths and Physics tutor with over 13 years of experience, specialising in A-Level Further Maths, A-Level Maths, A-Level Physics and undergraduate topics in Maths, Physics, Engineering and Computer Science.
I hold a PhD in Machine Learning from Dublin City University and a First Class Honours degree in Theoretical Physics from University College Dublin. Having recently served as an Assistant Professor at DCU, I am currently travelling and tutoring undergraduate students in mathematics, physics and engineering at Oxford, Imperial and UCL among others.
My experience and current teaching gives me a clear view of what students need, both to achieve top grades at A-Level and to make a successful transition into demanding university courses.
Further Maths is a significant step up from A-Level Maths, and many capable students find parts of it challenging. I help students build a solid understanding of the material, whether they are aiming for an A* or need support with topics they've found difficult.
With many of my students I have found that they are completely capable of mastering the material, but the topics simply haven't been presented in a way that suits their learning style. Every student is different and one of the things I pride myself on is being able to understand your needs and find a way to explain complex topics in a way that makes sense to you.

I teach A-Level Further Maths, Maths and Physics for all major exam boards (Edexcel, AQA, OCR and OCR MEI). In our initial call , I will ask about the your exam board, target grade and the topics you find most difficult, as well as those that you have successfully mastered in order to understand how I can help.
Lessons are built around each your specific gaps: I diagnose where understanding breaks down, then work through worked examples and past-paper questions until the concept clicks.
Further Maths topics I regularly cover include complex numbers, matrices, proof by induction, series, polar coordinates, hyperbolic functions and differential equations, along with Further Mechanics and Further Statistics.
Having taught common undergraduate topics across a range of universities I can also adapt my existing materials to any courses in Vector and Differential Calculus, Dynamics/ODEs/PDEs, Real Analysis, most courses in Physics, Machine Learning and AI. Please reach out to discuss if you need help with a subject and I am generally happy to take up new courses as long as I have the expertise needed.
Lessons are online and usually last 60 to 90 minutes. The first 30 minutes are free, so we can discuss goals and decide how best to work together.
What sets my approach apart is that I genuinely believe every student can excel in STEM subjects—it's just about finding the right angle of explanation. Rote memorisation can only get you so far; understanding the "why" behind formulas and concepts is far more effective. Once you understand why something works, you can apply it to any problem, not just those you have memorised.
