About Kelly
I hold a M.S. degree in Special Education - Data Driven Student Support and have 10 years of experience as a Special Education Resource Room teacher at an urban K-4 elementary school in Southern Maine. I will endeavor to accelerate and improve your child's reading skills, wherever they may be currently. I am armed with a toolbox of research backed instructional strategies, accommodations, and modifications to meet a variety of learner needs and make the most of each session. I adjust my plans based on the needs and capabilities of each learner.

I use From Phonics to Reading to build students' phonemic awareness, phonic sound spelling/blending, high frequency words, encoding/spelling, print concepts, fluency, writing, and comprehension skills by pairing direct instruction and frequent repetition and practice with reading of engaging connected texts. I have extensive experience working with striving readers with differences and needs in the areas of: attention, speech language, processing, memory, executive function, neurodiversity, cultural/linguistic, and social/emotional/behavioral. I can work with your child anywhere between 45 minutes to 1.5 hours at a time. I use a high degree of structure and predictability within lessons to facilitate productivity and efficiency of sessions and to build learner confidence.
