About Julien
I am an experienced and passionate Flute tutor with over 23 years of teaching experience. I teach School students, College students, and working professionals who want to learn flute in a clear, structured, and enjoyable way. My goal is to help students build strong musical skills and long-term confidence.
My teaching approach focuses on strong fundamentals and steady progress. I guide students in correct posture, breathing techniques, finger coordination, tone quality, rhythm accuracy, and musical expression. Lessons are planned according to the student’s level, goals, and learning speed.
I believe communication is very important in learning music. I explain concepts in simple language and demonstrate techniques clearly. Accountability is maintained through regular practice goals and progress reviews. I teach with integrity by giving honest feedback and encouraging consistent improvement.
Along with flute lessons, I also teach music theory, notation reading, rhythm exercises, and basic performance skills. I help students prepare for exams, auditions, and stage performances.
My unique strength is my ability to teach students of all age groups. I create a friendly, disciplined, and motivating learning environment that supports musical growth.

My flute teaching methodology emphasises Communication, Creativity, and Flexibility, offering students a comprehensive, adaptive, and inspiring learning experience. I begin by understanding each student’s current skill level, goals, and learning style to create personalised lessons that match their needs. Communication is a priority—I clearly explain techniques such as posture, breath control, finger coordination, articulation, phrasing, and sight-reading, making sure students feel confident and supported.
Creativity is a cornerstone of my approach. Students are encouraged to explore different musical styles, experiment with improvisation, and interpret pieces in their own way, cultivating originality and artistic expression. Flexibility allows me to adjust lessons to individual progress, interests, and challenges, ensuring steady growth and motivation.
In addition to flute performance, I teach music theory, rhythm, sight-reading, and ear training to build complete musicianship. My methodology ensures students develop technical proficiency, expressive skill, and confidence, while inspiring a lifelong love for music and a meaningful, fulfilling journey with their instrument.
